Video Journal - Entry #1

Hello everyone! After a bit of a hiatus in Spain and something of a brief creative sabbatical, I am returning to the creative fold with a video journal. The aim: to document the creative PROCESS of refining my current show-in-development - Spirit Garden. For any writers out there, this next part is for you.

Writing is sometimes a strange and unpredictable activity, at least for me. All writers have their own creative process and habits, which they use to metaphorically drill down through the schist of everyday life, to the core of gold which hopefully lies within. This video journal is one such process (I can't call it a habit, having just this last ten minutes started doing it, but I aim to make it a habit). The first entry is below.

NB. The structure of this journal is to ask myself a question, relating to me (yes, I am being unashamedly self-focused here), with the genuine goal of discovering who I actually am. Because I'm not really sure. How I AM I seen by the rest of the human beings out there? And what I am TALKING about when I say I want to "find my voice"? I will then answer my own question, spend some time reflecting on it and how it relates to the show, and then I will upload it here. Don't worry, each entry is less than 2 minutes, and this first one is only 40 seconds.

I am not editing any of these, and I'm only doing one take.

The only way I can bring myself to do this exercise is to pretend I am the only one seeing these videos, although the process itself relies on it being public at the same time - because this is the crux of the show I am putting together. I understand if this is a bit cryptic, and if you think I am being too enigmatic, I am very happy to talk about it with you sometime.

Let's just say that despite my cringing inside (God, am I a wanker? Hmmm. That might be a good question for later), you, my reader, are an important part of my creative process, even if you don't know it. Thank you.
